Smartphones Are the New Black

Pew research study recently showed that 1/3 of the American population owns a Smartphone; out of that percentage, 25 percent of those owners used their Smartphones as their dominant resource to online media, games, texting and e-mail. Is society becoming addicted to technology? The answer to that is yes.

 

Have you ever gone a day without checking to see who “liked” your status on Facebook or who emailed you today?  Studies show that, on average, subjects checked their phone 34 times a day, not because they had to, but because it was an unconscious action. Reasons behind the addiction to Smartphone use include a fascination of technology resources and the reaction felt knowing that the user is “socially supported”, reports CNN writer Sabriya Rice.

Consistently checking your phone is not only becoming a problem for many, but it is an inconspicuous and uncontrollable habit. With Smartphone users checking to see what time it is or refreshing their email every 10 minutes, it is essential for Apple, Android, and other technology corporations to keep owners satisfied and interested as technology use increases daily.
