Nathan Deal vs. Jason Carter


EDUCATION
Deal:
Education is an economic development (prepare students who are life-, college- and work-ready)
-Focus on early childhood education
-Increase percentage of effective teachers and principles
HOPE College Scholarship should be need-based
Carter:
Money needs to not be taken out of the Education system. In order to build up the middle and lower classes, education must be the first priority.
-Revamp an education funding system
PUBLIC SAFETY
Deal:
-Protect Georgians
-Rehabilitate nonviolent offenders that crowd prisons and strain budget, prevent offenders from falling back into a life of crime
-Promote safe communities where families and children thrive
Carter:
Promote safe communities, protect children
HEALTHCARE
Deal:
-Improve health and wellness of Georgians
-Strengthen the healthcare workforce
Carter:
Not entirely supportive of Obamacare
-Decrease amount of tax money moving outside of Georgia to fund other states and increase the use of Georgia tax dollars to help Georgia citizens
TAXES
Deal:
Georgians don’t want higher taxes
Carter:
There is a way to tax efficiently
-Utilize tax dollars for education
