Temper! Temper!

By Ramese Long

Here’s a quick one for you…

It’s first thing in the morning and you’re running late. You need gas, but there’s no time to stop. After aging a few years, you arrive at the office only to be scolded by your boss. By this point, your patience is non-existent. You have two choices: Lose your temper and your job or take a step back and breathe. If you chose the latter, I’m sure you’re still receiving your paycheck.

Think about the outcome of situations when you took a step back to “breathe” versus the times you let your emotions get the best of you. I’m sure you’ll see two distinct outcomes. One far more positive than the other if you’re honest and dig deep enough. Most of us would agree taking a step back to breathe is a good idea in a tense situation. So, my question to you is, imagine how you would feel if you took more than a step back and committed five minutes of your day to sit and breathe? Don‘t forget, rest and recuperation is vital when it comes to fitness. Adding this to your workout routine will do wonders for stress if done regularly. I strongly challenge you to step out of your comfort zone by implementing five minutes a day into your routine. You should try it. Now.
