Black Mamas Matter Alliance and 4Kira4Moms Announce 2025 Black Maternal Health Walk and Block Party

Free Family Event to Raise Awareness of Black Maternal Health & Empower Families

Saturday, April 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA), in partnership with the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services and 4Kira4Moms are excited to present the 2025 Atlanta Black Maternal Health Walk & Block Party this Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the MLK Recreation Center & Selena S. Butler Park. This free, family-friendly event will unite the community to raise awareness about Black Maternal Health, celebrate Black birthing joy, and empower families with education and resources.

The event aligns with Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17, 2025), the annual national campaign founded and led by BMMA in 2018 that builds awareness, activism, and community-building to amplify the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people. Georgia has the highest maternal mortality rate in the United States, disproportionately impacting Black families. This event also serves as a platform for advocacy, healing, and collective action.

“BMMA is proud to partner again with the City of Atlanta and 4Kira4Moms for this year’s event, embodying the official 2025 BMHW theme: ‘Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy,’” said Angela D. Aina, Co-Founder and Executive Director of BMMA, Inc. “By creating an event that brings together Black-led organizations, advocates, and communities in support of Black Maternal Health, we demonstrate how unity and collective action can build a future where Black Mamas, families, and communities truly thrive.”

As we continue to confront the maternal health crisis, this event is about healing, empowerment, and action,” said Gabrielle Albert, Executive Director of 4Kira4Moms. “We are creating a space where families can celebrate Black birthing joy while also advocating for meaningful change in maternal healthcare.”

As long-time partners in the Black Maternal Health movement, BMMA and 4Kira4Moms are excited to embark yet again with the City of Atlanta on this special celebration of Black Mamas and families under the themes of “Healing Legacies” and “Black Birthing Joy.”
