Arlane Onita Ross Robinson, 66: Businesswoman, Philanthropist & Community Advocate

ARLANEArlane Onita Ross Robinson, 66, died unexpectedly on June 8, 2016 at New York-Presbyterian/Weil Cornell Medical Center. She was born November 22, 1949 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Robert and Mildred Parker-Ross.

Arlane graduated with honors from Hamilton Park High School, Class of 1968 and furthered her education at the University of Houston and Vanguard School of Design. Arlane married her high school sweetheart, Ray Robinson on September 20, 1969. After 13 moves around the country, Arlane and Ray settled in Atlanta and immediately joined the historic Central United Methodist Church. There, Arlane served the church in many ways; Most important to her was serving as the leader of Central’s youth group.

Christ-like and philanthropic, Arlane generously shared her gifts and talents as an advocate for youth and the arts. She served as a board member for Cool Girls, Inc., a supporter of Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, and patron of the Alliance Theater and True Colors Theatre. Committed to the success of young people, Arlane was a proud charter member, and ultimately, Chair-Elect of the Atlanta Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees.

An astute business woman, Arlane started an interior design business, My Dwelling Place, but her most rewarding position was, as Ray says, being the “COO of my life”!

Arlane was a willing servant to many but what she loved most was serving those whom she left behind to cherish her memory: her husband of 47 years, Ray; daughter, Christy Rae; son, Shane Marcus (Tomikko); grand-daughters, Onye Crews, Alexis Shayne and Peyton Simone; brothers, Earnest (Cynthia), Ronald, and Larry; mother-in-law, Wanda Robinson; sister-in-law, Rhonda Robinson; brother-in-law, Manjuel Robinson (Vicki); nieces, nephews, godchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the Robinson family request contributions be made in honor of Arlane Robinson to:
