Russell Family Enterprises, LLC, the umbrella organization under which Atlanta-based H. J. Russell & Company (Russell), Concessions International LLC (CI), and Russell New Urban Development sit, names Mona Garland, SHRM-SCP, as their Chief People Officer. Reporting to Dan Bowman, the CEO of Russell Family Enterprises, she’ll work closely with the leadership teams of each of the entities as she leads the human capital and employee experience initiatives for the companies with the goal of making them The Best Places to Work.
Garland brings more than 25 years of experience to the organization and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her work with global market leaders in technology, manufacturing, logistics, and services industries, making her an excellent fit for the companies. Most recently, she served as a Chief Human Resources Officer and an integral member of an executive leadership team, where she successfully collaborated with key stakeholders to elevate the Human Resources function. Her efforts were instrumental in driving the growth of their global business strategy and advancing people initiatives across the company’s worldwide operations.

As a member of the senior leadership team for Russell, CI and Russell New Urban, Garland will develop and execute the human resource strategy in support of their individual business growth plans and strategic directions of each of the companies related to its talent acquisition, performance management, career succession, leadership development, and compensation and benefits. She’ll also serve as a strategic business partner, change agent and champion, coach, and training and development counselor for senior leaders, managers and supervisors.

Garland earned her Master of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield University (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Mass., and a Bachelor of Science in Educational Policy from the University of Wisconsin. Garland has also earned the distinction of being a SHRM-SCP (Society of Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional).
