The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy hosted the first clinic of the Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinic Program, a new summer initiative for boys and girls, ages eight to 15 of all skill levels, focused on developing shooting fundamentals through both group and individual skill instruction.
The event was held at Norcross High School and welcomed more than 100 young athletes who participated in specialized shooting drills, skill-building exercises, and live play, all led by Atlanta Hawks Youth Basketball Development coaches. Beyond the on-court activities, Hawks legend Sedric Toney made a special appearance, offering words of encouragement and inspiring athletes to play with a purpose.
“These Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinics are a fantastic opportunity for young basketball players to receive high-level instruction focused on the fundamentals of shooting,” said Jon Babul, Hawks’ Vice President of Community Impact & Basketball Programs. “Our goal is to help participants refine their shooting mechanics, build their confidence on and off the court and provide them an opportunity to develop their skills in a fun, meaningful way.”
The clinics, which will be held across multiple metro Atlanta locations, provide participants with the opportunity to refine their shooting technique, improve footwork, and develop in-game shot-making strategies. Through targeted drills, competitions, and shooting-focused gameplay, athletes will receive personalized feedback from experienced coaches, with a focus on fundamentals and consistency. Additionally, attendees will have the unique opportunity to interact with former Hawks players, gaining mentorship to elevate their skills.
The evening clinics will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All attendees will also receive a Hawks swag bag that includes a basketball, ball pump, and t-shirt.
The location and dates for the four remaining Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinics include:
• June 11 at Decatur High School (Decatur, Ga.)
• June 25 at Woodward Academy (College Park, Ga.)
• July 9 at Riverside Epicenter (Austell, Ga.)
• July 16 at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (Atlanta)
In addition to the Jr. Hawks Shooting Clinic Program, the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy will host the 2025 Jr. Hawks Summer Camps presented by adidas at five metro Atlanta locations throughout June and July, including one week, known as the Lady Ballers Summer Hoop Fest powered by Google Cloud, dedicated to young female athletes.
