The Final Container Business Drops in The Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards in
Southwest Atlanta’s Pittsburgh Community bringing more food, retail, and services closer to the community on Atlanta’s southside and just steps to the Atlanta Beltline’s Southside Trail entrance.
Pittsburgh Yards®, a community-led economic catalyst development offering a community gathering space, affordable office space, coworking memberships and support for small business to help them scale and grow, announces that the last of 10 containers has been dropped in The Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards®, now home to nine consumer-facing businesses and two housing-related businesses. Visitors will find the Container Courtyard located just steps from the Atlanta Beltline’s Southside Trail entrance, on the southern most side of the Pittsburgh Yards’ property at 352 University Avenue in southwest Atlanta.
Although some of the businesses are already open, and some of the newly placed container businesses aren’t open yet or are in different phases of opening, all of the businesses at the Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards are expected to be open later this spring for patronage from those who live in, pass through or make it a destination to visit. People from within or outside the Pittsburgh neighborhood, one of the oldest historically Black communities in metro Atlanta with a rich and meaningful history, are welcome to explore what Pittsburgh Yards and its Container Courtyard has to
offer throughout the opening of each business.
Until standard hours are set, visit the website of the individual businesses below or follow them on their social media channels for their hours of operation or their opening status. Urban Grind is currently open 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., 7 days a week, and will stay open longer during the spring and summer.
For now, as things ramp up, the best days to visit when several businesses will be open during their specific hours, are Thursdays through Sundays.

Major events and celebrations are scheduled for the outdoor space, including near or in the Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards this spring and summer.
As a benefit, all Container Courtyard businesses have access to the same business
development services provided by the designated organizations that offer technical assistance that the tenants and coworking members tap into inside The Nia Building® (Nia means purpose in Swahili and is one of the Kwanzaa principles), the anchor building of Pittsburgh Yards.
The Early Days of the Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards Fortas Homes, a leading developer and builder of high-quality, affordable in-fill homes and mid-size developments, was the first to establish its container-based headquarters in the Container Courtyard in August 2023. Then Lakeisha Jones of Pink Pothos ATL, a house plants and indoor plant
retail and plant care concierge shop, was the first to open a consumer-facing retail location on October 26, 2024 in her bright pink-branded customized container. She founded her company in 2022 and later graduated from the Atlanta Beltline Marketplace business development program and decided to embark on having her own steel and glass container business instead of leasing a brick and mortar space.
After Jones purchased her container, she and architect Anthony “Tony” Pope, co-founder of
Atelier7, a Black-owned architectural firm known for its commitment to sustainable design and community-driven projects, designed her rainforest-inspired container, among others in the Container Courtyard. Overall, his expertise, which helped shape much of the Container Courtyard’s layout, ensured a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics in the adaptive reuse community environment. Pope’s company is also opening a container business office in the Container Courtyard.
