Cascade Family Skating in Atlanta is enforcing a new policy requiring patrons under 18 to be accompanied by an adult from Friday through Sunday to combat “teen takeovers,” treating unsupervised minors as trespassers.
After Cascade Rink staff learned of plans for a “teen takeover” this coming weekend the rinks owners decided take action to prevent the potentially chaotic action at one of the city’s most popular family entertainment and activity venues.
The measures are being activated in light of recent troubled incidents along the Atlanta Beltline and at the Battery Atlanta.
The rink is also increasing police and security presence, responding to recent city-wide teen disturbances.
Key Details of the Policy Change:
Effective Times: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Requirement: Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Consequence: Unaccompanied minors will be considered trespassing.
Reasoning: To combat “teen takeovers” and city-wide teen activity.
Security: Increased police and security presence.
This measure follows recent chaotic incidents involving large groups of teenagers at The Battery Atlanta and the Atlanta Beltline, where police made numerous arrests and recovered weapons. Similar measures, such as curfews, have been adopted by other businesses to ensure safety.
