Sen. Ossoff Energizes Volunteers in Warner Robins, Campaigns with Sen. Reverend Warnock in Douglassville

Two days before Election Day, Senator Jon Ossoff was joined by Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock in addressing volunteers before sending them off to knock doors in Douglasville for Democrats up and down the ballot in the final days of the campaign.

Earlier in the day, Sen. Ossoff met with volunteers in Warner Robins, Ga. and encouraged Georgians to head to the polls and make their voices heard on election day.

Recent reporting in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution highlights Georgia’s high youth turnout as Black and young voters “are heading to the polls at a significantly faster clip than during the last midterm election,” according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The AJC outlined that “early in-person voting among Black Georgians is up 33% compared with the first nine days of voting in 2022, while turnout among voters under 30 has jumped 54%. Among young Black voters, the increase is an eye-popping 80%.”

This follows a poll by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which shows Ossoff’s strength with a high approval rating of 55% including strong support from independents, even after Republicans have spent millions of dollars on TV and digital ads targeting him.

“We are seeing record-shattering youth turnout for a midterm election in the state of Georgia right now. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. The people are answering history’s call, and it’s not just Democrats, it’s independents and Republicans too,” Sen. Ossoff declared in Warner Robins.

Meanwhile, GOP U.S. Senate nominee Mike Collins’ scandal-ridden campaign continues to collapse around him, after bombshell CNN reporting revealed that Collins has continued to allow the production of white nationalist and antisemitic content from his property. CNN also unearthed as part of this reporting that Collins promoted political violence in shocking and previously unreported comments where he said that “American military and political leaders deserved to be hanged from a helicopter,” and joked about pushing former Speaker Nancy Pelosi out of an airplane — similar to when he said immigrants should be thrown from helicopters to their deaths. The reporting builds upon the widely-reported ties between Collins and white nationalism, highlighting Collins’ ongoing praise for and years-long friendship with Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers, “the outspoken far-right Republican who was censured by her own state’s Republican-led Senate in March 2022 after speaking at a White nationalist conference and making inflammatory statements about her political enemies.”

“Sometimes you don’t know while you’re taking part in history the magnitude of the moment that you’re living in, and the movement that you’re a part of. But we will all look back on what we did these weeks — and now these hours — with pride. We’ll be able to look at our kids and our grandkids and know that we did everything in our power to right the ship to fight for the kind of country, and the kind of world where we want to raise our kids,” Ossoff told voters in Douglasville.
