Atlanta City Council Committee Chairs and Appointments Updated

Updated committee assignments have been made for the Atlanta City Council, which is comprised of seven committees that debate and shape legislation before reaching the full Council for approval.

The City Utilities Committee will be chaired by Council member Jason Winston and comprised of Council members Michael Julian Bond, Andrea L. Boone, Jason S. Dozier, Dustin Hillis, Antonio Lewis, and Howard Shook.

The Community Development and Human Services Committee will be chaired by Council member Jason S. Dozier and comprised of Council members Byron Amos, Liliana Bakhtiari, Antonio Lewis, Keisha Sean Waites, Matt Westmoreland, and Jason Winston.

The Public Safety and Legal Administration Committee will be chaired by Council member Dustin Hillis and comprised of Council members Byron Amos, Michael Julian Bond, Andrea L. Boone, Antonio Lewis, Mary Norwood, and Keisha Sean Waites.

The Transportation Committee will be chaired by Council member Amir Farokhi and comprised of Council members Byron Amos, Antonio Lewis, Mary Norwood, Marci Collier Overstreet, Keisha Sean Waites, and Alex Wan.

The Zoning Committee will be chaired by Council member Marci Collier Overstreet and comprised of Council members Liliana Bakhtiari, Michael Julian Bond, Jason S. Dozier, Amir Farokhi, Mary Norwood, and Matt Westmoreland.

The Finance/Executive Committee will be chaired by Council member Alex Wan and comprised of Council members Liliana Bakhtiari, Dustin Hillis, Marci Collier Overstreet, Howard Shook, Matt Westmoreland, and Jason Winston.

The Committee on Council will be chaired by Council member Liliana Bakhtiari and comprised of Council members Byron Amos, Andrea L. Boone, Amir Farokhi, Howard Shook, Alex Wan, and Jason Winston.

About Atlanta City Council

The Atlanta City Council is the chief policy-making body for the City of Atlanta. It acts by considering and enacting all laws that govern the City. The Council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City as recommended by the mayor, and it continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations. The Council reviews and has final say on many land-use and zoning matters. Major economic development projects for the City also fall under the Council’s consideration.
