In his bid for re-election, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has earned the endorsement of The Collective PAC, the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government. Mayor Dickens secured this national endorsement while participating in the opening session of The Collective PAC’s 5th Annual Black Leadership Summit at the W Hotel in Downtown Atlanta this past Friday and Saturday.
Quentin James, Founder and President of The Collective PAC, stated, “Mayor Andre Dickens has a proven record of putting the people of Atlanta first, so we are thrilled to support his re-election campaign to ensure he continues his work to move Atlanta forward. As we celebrate Black leaders here in Atlanta during our Black Leadership Summit, Mayor Dickens exemplifies what it means to lead in an ever-evolving Southern political landscape.”
Founded in August 2016, The Collective PAC has endorsed and supported hundreds of Black candidates over the past nine years and has helped 500+ candidates win general elections at the local, state and federal levels across the country. The organization works to rectify the underrepresentation of the Black community in elected seats of power throughout America, noting that in order to reach political equity – a place where Black elected officials represent the community’s population statistically – Black people should hold at least 13% of all elected offices in the U.S.
The Collective PAC’s 5th Annual Black Leadership Summit was a two-day, invitation-only convening of national Black leaders in politics, business, nonprofit, and culture. The annual summit seeks to advance sustainable Black political power through strategic dialogue focused on political engagement, economic empowerment, and cultural influence. Mayor Dickens appeared as a featured speaker in the summit’s first plenary session, “Welcome to Atlanta: A Case Study for Maximizing Black Power”, highlighting the city’s legacy and leadership in Black political power building.
“I am grateful for the support of The Collective PAC, which reflects their confidence in the progress we’ve made during my first term in areas such as affordable housing, public safety, and infrastructure,” said Mayor Dickens. “Especially as local governments navigate the uncertainty our nation faces today, it’s more important than ever to support Black candidates and build towards not only political equity but also economic and social equity for all.”
