Early voting begins Monday in Georgia’s primary election runoff, where voters will decide several key statewide races.
For some voters in Northwest Georgia, this will mark at least the fourth trip to the polls this year.
Voters can check early voting locations and hours on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.
Several races advanced to a runoff after no candidate received more than 50% of the vote in the May 19 primary. Under Georgia law, voters who participated in a party’s primary must vote in the same party’s runoff.
Election Day is set for Tuesday, June 16
Here are the races to watch:
On the Republican side:
Governor: Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and businessman Rick Jackson are facing off in the Republican runoff. Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Jones, while Governor Brian Kemp has not backed either candidate.
The winner will go on to face Democratic nominee and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in November. Bottoms has the support of former President Joe Biden.
U.S. Senate: Congressman Mike Collins and former football coach Derek Dooley are competing in the Republican runoff. Former President Donald Trump has not issued an endorsement in the race, while Governor Brian Kemp has backed Dooley.
The winner will face Democratic incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff in the general election in November
Lieutenant Governor: State Senator Greg Dolezal and and former State Senator John F. Kennedy are running.
- Secretary of State: State Representative Tim Fleming faces former State Representative Vernon Jones, who unsuccessfully ran for governor and Congress in 2022.
- State School Superintendent: Incumbent Richard Woods faces Fred “Bubba” Longgrear.
- Public Service Commissioner District 5: Bobby Mehan and Josh Tolbert are running
What’s on the Democratic Ballot

- Commissioner of Insurance: DeAndre Mathis and Keisha Sean Waites will face off.
